Fire Prevention saves Money!


A fire is not only emotionally devastating and life threatening, it can be financially devastating, as well.
Some Tips on avoiding a fire:
Keep fire extinguishers readily available and up to date
Don’t burn near the house or other flammable objects
Have your chimney, wood stove, or furnace professionally checked
Don’t leave the kitchen or grill unattended
Be careful with candles, space heaters and cigarettes
During the holidays, water your Christmas tree
Keep matches and lighters away from kids
Know how to put out fires
Be careful with outdoor landscaping
Get a lightning rod
Unplug items when not in use
Clean your dryer
Keep flammable materials to a minimum
Have all electrical work done by a professional and inspected
Check electric blankets and heating pads

How to Avoid Home Break ins/theft


Over the past week we have had two claims filed one on a homeowners policy and another on a renters insurance policy for theft and burglary. In the News Miner August 24th there's four listing alone. Please take pre-caution and prevent break-ins and theft.
Here are some basics:
1. Lock your doors
2. Close and lock windows
3. Don't advertise valuables in the paper or online with your address
4. Keep your valuable private
5. Get an alarm (discounts on your ins)
6. Keep areas around house clear of bushes and keep well lit during dark times
7. Keep valuable in the home (don't leave expensive bikes outside)
8. Obscure windows with curtains or tint
9. Don't advertise on Facebook or other social media you're not home, tell your friends after you get back all the adventures you've been on.
