Hit and runs
Tis the season there is an increase in hit and runs, specifically in parking lots.
The best advice is prevention. Park your cars in less traveled area or in an area less congested.
What is required when you do find damage on your car and there's no notes or witness? Take pictures with your phone, obtain a police report from the local authority and contact your insurance company right away. During the holidays there is an increase in uninsured drivers, and stress that may cause drivers to be more distracted than usual.

Personal Property Insurance(clothes, furniture, collectables, toys, tv’s etc):
Do you know how much your belongings are worth? The figure is often much more than you may initially think. Taking the time to assess what you own, and to understand how your coverage works, we can help you make sure everything you value is adequately covered.
Start by walking around your home and look for items that you spent a lot of money on, or that have appreciated in value since you got them. Having a record (have this record stored outside of the home) of those items (pictures, documents, etc.) - especially those most important to you either financially or personally, is very important in working to ensure they are protected properly.
Finally, you will need to make a decision about how to insure your belongings and choose coverage options to suit your individual replacement needs, we here at Hood Agency are happy to help with this very important decision.
We here at Hood Agency will also help you with the very important decision on choosing Actual Cash Value or Replacement coverage for your personal belongings.
Short definitions
Cash Value: The cost to replace with new property of like kind and quality, less depreciation. (garage sale prices)
Replacement: The cost to replace the property with like or similar quality/brand with new.

Please turn your head lights on
It's getting darker earlier and staying darker longer every day. Stats show having your headlights on all day every day will greatly decrease your odds of getting involved in an accident. However it's most older cars don't have the auto running lights and as the season turns to winter there are cars that forget to turn on their lights.. be aware and always double check before entering roadways.
Time of year!
If you have a motor home, motorcycle or seasonal car don't forget to suspend or reinstate (winter vehicles). Super easy email a017359@allstate.com with instructions (great way to do this for emails are timed and dated!). Why suspend a toy or car? To keep fire, theft, vandalism, wind, hail, fire, and falling objects coverage for your vehicle at a very low cost.
(fixed) Life Insurance Month!
Life insurance can do some pretty amazing things for people. It can buy loved ones time to grieve. It can pay off debts and loans, providing surviving family members with the chance to move on with a clean slate. It can keep families in their homes and pre-fund a child’s college education. It can keep a family business in the family. It can provide a stream of income for a family to live on for a period of time. Life insurance can do all of these wonderful things for your family…there’s just one small catch. You need to own life insurance.

Does the car you drive fit your personality?
"Everywhere you look, you can find little jokes about what your car can mean about you and your personality." If the car you drive is a less than common color it could mean "you are simply seen as someone who ‘marches to the beat of your own drum’ and doesn’t follow trends. You may be seen as eccentric, but you don’t necessarily care what others think of you." For more CLICK HERE

Home inventories should be required!
You never know when a disaster may strike—but you can be prepared with a home inventory. When a claim is filled on your home or renters policy, and there's damage or lost contents, the first requirement is document all that was damage. Imagine having to do this after a fire destroys part or all of your home. Home inventories are not required but should be! This very easy site has great tips and a software to help with your personal inventory. One other tip, keep all user manuals/product guides and store in a location away from your home (family members home, office, storage shed).

Wanting to buy a house or car this year here are some easy fast ways to bump up your credit score.
Pull your credit and repair errors.
Pay down credit lines over two months.
Pay bills on time from now on.
Never use “grace periods” pay early or on time.
Do not close unused accounts.
Cut up credit cards, but keep the oldest one. (even if you don’t use it)
Spread your debt over your credit cards rather than one with all debt.
Rapid re-scoring you'll need a lender who is a customer of a rapid re-scoring service. Generally, the service will run roughly $50 for every account on your credit report that needs to be addressed, but it could save you thousands on your loan.

TONS of snow!
With all the snow we've had this past week and predicted in our future, is it time to shovel our roofs? There's many factors to consider, is your roof flat or sloped? What is the material on your roof? metal or shingle?
The load needed to collapse a code-built roof would still require much more snow, local building officials said. An approved roof is required to hold 50 pounds per square foot in Fairbanks.

Witness to an accident?
Driving to work and witness and accident? Please please stay at the scene and help the parties involved. Many times accidents happen so fast parties and parties involved are so shaken the details are hard to recall. If you're in a rush, simply provide someone at the scene your name and phone number (business card) and let them know you'd be happy to help. This act of kindness may ensure one's insurance rates don't go up and who knows someone may pay it forward to you one day!
